Darshan at dawn
The darkness of the night slowly thins away
The dawn of the Sun is still away
A group of ladies stands holding small plates
Containing campher and match box
A flock of men wait clad in dhoti
Outside the palanquin
In the divine calm
The doors of the palanquin open slowly
Grace in the form of HIM slides out
With a serene face
A breezy smile
Holding dandam in one hand
The ladies light the campher quickly
Perform aarthi to HIM
The men prostrate fully
In the wee hours of the pre-dawn
The light of ushatkala darshan
Brighten up the devotees life
Much before the first ray of sunlight
lighten up the earth.
